License Info

Here's the way big game hunting licenses are issued:

Clients hunting on the Sunnyside Ranch will have guaranteed elk and deer licenses. On our other hunts, all deer licenses will be available through a draw process only, through a left over license option or with a landowner voucher.

While some elk licenses are by draw, others are available over the counter. The deadline for submitting the required application is April 3, so plan on having your on line application filled out and/or mailed by that deadline. We are very familiar with the application process, and will be happy to assist our hunters to ensure that the paperwork is completed properly, let us know we are here to help with this process!

Other hunts that we offer that require drawing a limited license include our elk muzzleloader, some cow elk and September bear hunts. These licenses may require the applicant to have various “preference points”, which are given each time the applicant applies for a tag and is unsuccessful.

All other licenses are available over the counter, $346 for deer, $576 for elk, non-resident. The state also requires every sportsman to pay an annual $10 habitat stamp fee, and also charges a $3 non-refundable application fee to all those who apply for a license.

We can obtain the unlimited licenses for our clients and have them for you at the ranch upon arrival, which allows us to avoid any problems that may occur by waiting until the last minute to purchase your licenses. It is very important to remember that Colorado requires any hunter born on or after January 1, 1949, to have a certificate stating that they have completed an approved hunter safety course in order to purchase a hunting license in Colorado.
