License Information

The following describes the way big game hunting licenses will be issued for the 2009 hunting season:

Clients hunting on the Sunnyside Ranch will have guaranteed elk and deer licenses. On our other hunts, all deer licenses will be available through a draw process only, or with a landowner voucher.

Again, in  2009 some elk licenses are by draw, and others are available over the counter. The deadline for submitting the required application is in early April, so plan on having your application filled out and mailed off by the end of March.  We are very familiar with the application process, and will be happy to assist our hunters to ensure that the paperwork is completed properly.

Other hunts that we offer that require drawing a limited license include our elk muzzleloader, September bear and all antelope hunts.  These licenses may require the applicant to have various “preference points”, which are given each time the applicant applies for a tag and is unsuccessful.

All other licenses are available over the counter, $331 for deer, $551 for elk, non-resident.

We can obtain the unlimited licenses for our clients and have them for you at the ranch upon arrival, which allows us to avoid any problems that may occur by waiting until the last minute to purchase your licenses.  It is very important to remember that Colorado requires any hunter born on or after January 1, 1949, to have a certificate stating that they have completed an approved hunter safety course in order to purchase a hunting license in Colorado.
