In early March of each year we determine the scope of our upcoming cow elk hunting program and update this page to include available hunts.  Several factors go into our decisions for the upcoming cow elk hunting program, we consider them all and then move forward on a year to year basis with varying options for hunting.  For the 2014-15 season we have decided to not offer any cow elk hunting on our private ranches.

In general the cow elk hunts are designed with high success in mind, and are scheduled as either 1 or 2 day hunts.  As with any free ranging big game hunts, harvest is not guaranteed, and several factors contribute to the overall success rates on these hunts.  Most of these hunts are scheduled from late November through the middle of January, and at times snow levels can make access to the elk a challenge.  Lodging and meals are not provided on these hunts, guests meet the guide staff on site the day of their hunt.  Guides will handle field care of harvested elk and getting the game back out to the hunters vehicle.

Licenses for these hunts are available in a number of ways, and depend on the ranch being hunted.  Most tags are best acquired through the normal license application draw with a typical deadline to apply of around April 1.  Many of the licenses can be purchased as a left over license, and some licenses are available through landowner or other types of license vouchers.  The 2014-15 fees for a non-resident cow elk tag is $451, resident is $46.

These hunts provide our hunters a great chance to put some elk meat in the freezer.  The fees for the hunts are listed to the left and the cost of required license, lodging and gratuity is not included in the hunt fee  Contact us to determine set up you cow elk hunt today!
