Piney Valley Ranch I Challenge Hunt I Cow Elk Hunts
Each year from mid November through the middle January we try to harvest cow elk from several of our Private Ranches to help us with our game management program. These hunts are guided by a staff member familiar with the ranch and elk numbers and current location and numbers of elk on the various properties. The focus of these hunts is to provide a high percentage of harvest for our clients, meet our herd objectives, and provide a freezer full of elk meat to our guests along with a great hunting experience.These cow elk hunts are conducted on an as needed basis, and flexibilty is required to meet everchanging conditions as they relate to numbers and location of elk and weather concerns. We basically provide two types of cow hunts, the first type is a two and a half day trip, the second type is a single day trip. Typically the hunts are targeted at herds of elk who have moved into the lower sections of our ranches during the winter where they are fairly easy to access. Lodging, meals and license fees are not included in the cost of the cow elk hunt. The fees for the various cow elk license are listed to the left along with how their are obtained. These cow elk tags are generally considered an extra license and can be purchased even if the hunter alreasy had a Colorado elk license.
Because these hunts are designed to deal with "excess" elk, the success rate is extremely high, and offers our hunters a great chance to put some elk meat in the freezer. The fee for the two and a half day trip is $950, with a minimum of 2 hunters. The day trips are $475 for one hunter, $400 each for 2 hunters, and $350 each for three or more hunters. Cost of required license , lodging and gratuity is not included in the hunt fee Give us a call to determine available dates.

HUNT FEES
Day trips for cow elk are offered at the following fees
One Hunter $475 per day
Two Hunters $400 each per day
Three or more Hunters $350 each per day
2.5 day trips are $950 per hunter (2 hunter minimum)
LICENSES
THE COW ELK LICENSES ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE STATE DRAW WHICH HAS AN APRIL 6, 2010 DEADLINE, OR ALSO THROUGH A LEFT OVER LICENSE SALE. IF YOU SCHEDULE YOUR HUNT AFTER THE DRAWING DEADLINE, WE CAN DETERMINE IF THERE ARE LEFTOVER LICENSES AVAILABLE FOR YOUR DESIRED HUNTAND SCHEDULE TIMES ACCORDINGLY.
